Heavy Metal

This dresser was a mess. Of course I forgot to take before pictures but it was rusty and three different colors. It's amazing how much a little love and a few coats of paint will class things up. I left on the "back splash". Because I think it really added a lot to the piece and makes it more versatile.

Tiffany Blue Vanity/Dresser!

I love a good vanity dresser, and this one did not dissappoint. It was begging to be tiffany blue, and whilst in near perfect condition, needed to be painted. I removed the old knobs and added the crystal ones to finish off the look. Home Depot has good crystal knobs, and though they're around $6 a piece, they have the weight and beauty needed!

The Tin Man

I snagged this dresser at a great sale this past week at St. Vincent De Paul in Seattle. My mother in law went for me as I was in Pullman. She was a trooper, putting up with the crazy thrift store crowd! The original dresser was oak, and though it was beautiful, it had it's flaws and unfortunately I could not fix them with stain or oil. I love how oak looks deeply shabby chic-ed, though. the grain still comes out when you sand it.

The best part of the dresser is the rivets I later added down the front and on the top, and the hammered tin. I hammered every ding in that, thank you very much! Took me forever and I had to stuff my ears with cotton. I'm very pleased with the outcome!!

The Gold Princess

Believe it or not, but I'm painting in Seattle now! Splitting my time between here and there, there's always room for an upcycle, and this is my very first Seattle outcome! For a while now I've dreamed of metallic, ever since my project on the large French dresser. I found this once drab little gem at my local St. Vinnies and snapped it up. I used gold and copper on this, adding contour with the darker copper around the edges. Such a gem! Imagine this piece in a room of white, a gorgeous lamp, and a romantic read.... ahhhhh.

Country Rustic Table and Chairs

I got this table last summer from a student. He really didn't care about it, but I did immediately. The potential in such a table and chairs with the Louis style chair backs. I had to have it. I fixed it up and fell in love. Country rustic here I come!

The purist in me comes out...

I bought this piece with the full intention of painting it a crazy color and shabby chic'ing the crap out of it. But after thinking it through I began to wonder if this would be a perfect piece to rehab and not cover up the gorgeous wood. It turned out great and keeping it the natural wood was a great decision. I think the stain color really helps show off the accents and the gorgeous legs.

Lovely Coral

These end tables came to me in a red stain and I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with them, so they sat in a corner of the garage for a while. I was painting another piece this coral color and on a whim I slapped some of the paint on the end tables. I am very happy with how they turned. The coral color seems to make the accents on the tables really stand out, and the iron rubbed bronze handles contrast the color well also.
